MATES BIG LAP 2024: Get moving for your mates

Mates Big Lap 2024 - Pryme Australia Making The Workplace A Better Place

In May 2024, Pryme Team proudly stands alongside the MATES Big Lap initiative, held throughout the month to shed light on mental health and suicide in our industry. It’s more than just an event; it’s an opportunity to turn our words into action – embodying the ethos of MATES: Stronger Together. And this year, it’s a virtual affair, allowing mates from all corners of Australia to participate.

Whether you walk, run, ride, swim, or wheel, there’s a place for everyone. Set your own distance goal and track your progress using Fitbit, Strava, or by manually entering your kilometres. No barriers exist here; it’s for the seasoned athletes and those just starting out alike.

Form a team and make it a point to check in on your mates. Remember, it only takes three weeks to form a new habit, so let’s aim for four, striving not only to improve physical health but mental well-being too. Share your journey with friends and family, letting them know why you’re taking part.

Last year’s MATES Big Lap saw an incredible 698 individuals complete an astounding five laps around Australia. This year, we’re setting our sights even higher, aiming for nine laps in memory of the nine Australians lost to suicide each day. With 1,000 people committing to walking 5 kilometres daily throughout May, and the support of cyclists and runners, we’re confident we can achieve our target.

At Pryme, ensuring the well-being of workers across Australia is paramount. Not only do we provide top-quality Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to safeguard against physical risks, but we also recognise that mental health is equally vital. We understand that the pressures of high-demand industries like construction and mining can take a toll on mental well-being. That’s why we prioritise initiatives like the MATES Big Lap, actively advocating for mental health awareness and support. By promoting open dialogue, offering resources, and participating in events like the Big Lap, we strive to create a workplace culture where both physical safety and mental wellness are valued and prioritised.

Every dollar raised, including registration fees, goes directly to your chosen industry or state, funding MATES’ crucial work in mental health support and suicide prevention. Fundraising isn’t just an option; it’s integral to ensuring MATES can continue to make a difference in our industry.

The event goes all May, and you can track the progress of BIG LAP on the GoFundraise page matesbiglap.gofundraise.com.au and you can support the Pryme Team here – matesbiglap.gofundraise.com.au//page/PrymeAustralia-41634499

Join us this May as we come together to make a difference, one kilometre at a time. Together, we can create a safer, more supportive environment for all.
