National Tree Day

At Pryme, we’re passionate about the environment, which is why we’d like to spread the word about National Tree Day. This year, Schools Tree Day is Friday 29 July, and National Tree Day is Sunday 31 July.

Planet Ark’s National Tree Day has grown into Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature care event. It’s a great opportunity for people who’d like to support their communities by getting their hands dirty, and there are a few ways you can be part of this valuable environmental initiative that has seen almost 26 million trees planted since 1996.

Plant a tree

You can participate in National Tree Day by becoming a part of the army of environmentally conscious people who volunteer their time every year to help plant one million native trees. You can host or join a planting through the official National Tree Day website, where you’ll find a range of supportive resources to help you get the most out of the day. If you’re keen to organise a less formal event, you can simply gather some friends and family and plant some trees on a private piece of land. Every tree counts!

Donate to the Seedling Bank

You can also support National Tree Day by donating to the seedling bank, which further supports planting efforts by providing financial support where seedlings are needed most.

The seedling program launched in 2019, and involves financial grants to help applicants in schools and community groups around Australia to get native seedlings in the ground and help restore the unique Australian landscape. To date, 90 groups have received funding, and almost 39,000 seedlings have been planted around Australia. To apply for or donate to the program, you can visit https://treeday.planetark.org/seedlingbank/#what.

Clean the environment

If gardening isn’t really your thing, you can also support National Tree Day by caring for nature in other ways. You can volunteer for clean-ups via the Planet Ark website, or even pull a gang together to clean your local park or green space.

If you’re keen to head outdoors on National Tree Day, remember to protect yourself against Australia’s harsh UV radiation that’s a risk all year round. For sustainably produced and environmentally friendly sun protection products, you can access our range of Maxiblock sunscreens and zincs on the Pryme website, along with a range of Ergodyne PPE, and N-Ferno winter warming products for those working in colder areas. It’s also important to remember to stay hydrated, even in winter, and you’ll find a range of delicious Sqwincher hydration solutions there to help protect your workers while they’re labouring outdoors. For more information on any of Pryme’s products, contact our friendly staff and we’ll be happy to help.
